With its expansive ocean views, the TCW is a great place for whale-watching during the annual winter migration. The area is also home to dolphins, koalas, and over 200 bird species.

Arrive and check-in to your Deluxe 4 star Glamping Tent at the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary. Delve into the world of Australia's iconic wildlife, as you encounter wild koalas in a unique natural bushland setting.

Depart the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary to Tomaree Headlands, starting point for the Tomaree Coastal Walk, transfer own arrangements.

Embark on the Tomaree Coastal Walk (TCW), a scenic journey within the Tomaree National Park, that spans over 27km along the breathtaking coastline of Port Stephens. You'll be captivated by the panoramic views of Tomaree Summit, through angophora forests, secluded beaches & finishing at the Birubi Point Aboriginal Place and culturally significant Worimi Conservation Lands.

Today enjoy a delicious Ploughman’s Lunch including breads, cheeses, meats, trail mixes, protein snacks and bottled water included within your Koala Sanctuary souvenir branded Back Pack, given to you on departure from the Sanctuary.

The freedom is yours to stop and enjoy your Ploughman's lunch at any time and location along the walk, to take in the glorious views whilst enjoying a selection of menu items that includes:

Afternoon resting and relaxing in the Sanctuary surrounds, maybe a swim in the resort style swimming pool surrounded by cool inviting lawn that also incorporates a temperate outdoor spa cascading into a small surrounding pool.

Relax on your deck and enjoy Continental Breakfast items pre-placed in your tent.

Meet your expert guide at Fat Possum Café for an exclusive ‘walk and talk’ tour who will share fascinating insights into koala behavior, habitat, and conservation, providing an educational and interactive experience.

Before the Sanctuary opens to the general public journey up on the Sanctuary SKYwalk, an elevated boardwalk and viewing platform that takes you up to 10mtrs into the tree top canopy offering memorable photographic opportunities and creates remarkable holiday experience memories.

Witness wild koala being prepared for the day, fed their breakfast and tendered to by committed and passionate local volunteers. Remain enjoying the peaceful surroundings before returning to your accommodation.

  • Sanctuary Story Walk

    The Sanctuary Story Walk is a 250 metre in length meandering pathway offering an immersive educational experience for all ages telling the story of koala and its habitat through artistic sculptural representations.

  • Koala Hospital

    The state-of-the-art Koala Hospital includes an intensive care unit, clinic and recovery pens, looking after sick and injured koalas from the Port Stephens area. UPDATE: In 2024 a $2M expansion of the Koala Hospital is planned. During that time the hospital viewing window will not be accessible due to construction restrictions but will reopen in late 2024 / early 2025.

  • Sanctuary SKYwalk

    The *Sanctuary SKYwalk and viewing platform is a 225 metre in length elevated pathway and viewing platform, offering a unique ‘tree top’ perspective into the koala’s natural habitat, a perfect photo opportunity and educational experience.

    *Sanctuary SKYwalk & viewing platform closes at 4pm.
